Dear 2nd Grade Students and Families,

Here are your assignments for today.  Click on the underlined links to open each assignment.

Reading:

  1. Retell the story of The Three Little Pigs in your own words.  Use this retelling sheet to write, in order, the five most important things that happen in the text: RazPlus–The Three Little Pigs–RETELL.  Use transition words like first, then, next, after that, and finally.
  2. Read a good fit book for 20-30 minutes.

Writing:

  1. Continue to write your own fairy tale.  Use the Fairy Tale Planning Sheet from Tuesday to help you.  You will finish and edit your story tomorrow.  Remember to start your story with once upon a time and to end your story with a happily ever after.  Also, keep in mind that, when your characters talk in your story, you should use dialogue tags (quotation marks) to set off what they’re saying.  For example.  Ms. Gray said, “Please remember to use dialogue tags to show your characters speaking in your story.”  Here are two kinds of paper to choose from: Fundations Paper with Drawing Space or Fundations Writing Paper

Math:

  1. Complete the Math Challenge–April 23.
  2. Go on Symphony Math for 20-30 minutes.

Social Studies and Science:

  1. Use your notes (Country Research Notes–Pebble Go) to make a poster about the country you researched.  Include the name of the country, the capital, the continent where it’s located, the population, the main languages spoken there, and one or more facts about each of the following: climate, landforms, and history.  Also, include any other fun facts you learned.  If you are able to, find and label a map of your country, pictures of your country, or other things you think would make your poster interesting and informative.  Get creative with the materials you use to make your poster.  Recycled cardboard can make a good poster base.  This is your assignment for today and tomorrow
